ONGC Assam Asset to give schools face-lift with quality furniture

GAURISAGAR: In continuation with its CSR initiatives, ONGC Assam Asset, in association with ONGC Officers’ Mahila Samiti (OOMS), Sivasagar and Nazira units, has initiated an exemplary CSR project to provide quality furniture in schools of its operational areas.

Under the project, which is to be implemented in two phases with an estimated cost of Rs. 40 lakh, one steel almirah and two bookshelves for each school will be provided to 60 schools - 30 schools of Geleky and Lakwa area under Phase I in association with OOMS, Nazira and another 30 schools of Lakhmani, Rudrasagar and other areas of Sivasagar and Charaideo districts under Phase II in association with OOMS, Sivasagar.

The Phase I of the project was launched by Anjali Maske, First Lady of ONGC Assam Asset at B Das Modi Girls’ High School, Geleky recently. On the occasion, one steel almirah and two bookshelves were handed over to the school by Anjali Maske in presence of the students, school management, teachers and staff of the school, parents and local people.

Following the launch, the furniture will be handed over to rest of the schools under Phase I in March. Phase II of the project has already been sanctioned and the furniture to another 30 schools will be handed over after completion of Phase I. Providing quality furniture to the schools will go a long way in addressing a major concern of the schools, especially in rural areas.
