Opium seized, UB constable arrested

GUWAHATI, May 14: The Custom department has arrested a UB Constable identified as Niren Bora of the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam Police on Monday near ISBT allegedly for carrying 13 kg opium. According to a custom department source, the accused seized the illicit drug by conducting a raid at Kotahbari under Garchuk police station. Reportedly, later, he was furtively getting ready to sell off the opium to some person (s) without informing the concerned authority. In the meantime, the Custom Department official could make out the information and arrested him immediately.
