Over One Crore Cash Seized In Arunachal

Itanagar: In the run-up to the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh, the flying squad teams and static surveillance team constituted by the Election along with police have seized unaccounted cash over one crore in the State in the past 24 hours.

Election office sources here informed that out of the total amount of Rs 1, 41, 117050, Rs 34.90 lakh was seized in Longding district alone. Police team also seized around Rs 14.50 lakh from Nirjuli, near here, while flying squad team seized an amount of Rs 11.11 lakh in East Siang district.

All confiscated cash were handed over to IT department and three cases were registered in this regard, the sources informed.

Police also recovered three .32 revolvers, four 12 bore SBB guns, nine air guns, three .22 bore rifles, 695 daos (sword), 80 detonators, 735 grams of opium, 20577 litres and bottles of IMFL and gelatin sticks from various parts of the state in the past two days, the sources added.
