Pacer Krishna Das ready to play for Goa

GUWAHATI: Ending his 12 years relation with Assam Cricket team pacer Krishna Das is all set to make debut for Goa this season. The right banded pacer has been included in the 15-member Goa squad for the Vijay Hazare trophy as a professional player. Krishna’s former teammate Amit Verma will also feature in Goa team this season.

Goa will start their campaign in the Vijay Hazare Trophy tomorrow at Alur in Bengaluru. Their first opponent will be Maharastra.

Krishna, made debut for Assam in 2006 season in the Limited over cricket against Tripura, played 16 matches and collected 15 wickets. He also collected 140 wickets in 41 first class matches most of which came in the Ranji trophy representing Assam.

Last year Krishna was forced to drop from Assam squad after his employer Railways moving the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as the pacer was playing for Assam without obtaining no-objection certificates. The pacer had to spend entire season out of ground.

In a brief reaction to The Sentinel from Bengaluru the pacer today said, “I got an offer from Goa Cricket Association to play as a professional player and I accepted it. I love to take challenge and will try my best to perform well in all three formats of the game.”
