Pakistan's Sindh province reopens liquor shops

Karachi, Nov 30: A provincial excise and taxation ministry of Pakistan allowed reopening of the sealed wine shops by withdrawing its previous order that cancelled their licences, media reported on Wednesday.

The Sindh excise and taxation ministry sent a letter on Tuesday to its directors in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larka, Mirpurkhas and Bezirabad regions referred to the “order of the honourable Supreme Court of Pakistan, dated 23-11-2016, in the subject line setting aside the order of the Honourable High Court of Sindh dated 27-10-2016”, Dawn reported.

Last week, the Supreme Court had set aside the October 27 Sindh High Court order about the cancellation of licences of about 124 wine shops in the province. (IANS)
