Panchayat election process begins in Charaideo district

SIVASAGAR: With the announcement of notification, the panchayat election process too began in Charaideo district. Altogether 2,92,422 voters will exercise their franchise to elect 439 candidates in the forthcoming panchayat election in the district. Vivekananda Phukon, Deputy Commissioner of Charaideo, briefed the media persons in his conference hall about the ongoing preparation for the smooth conduct of panchayat elections in the district to be held on December 5.

Out of 360 polling stations, 50 are sensitive while 20 are very sensitive. In the newly-formed district, the total number of Zila Parishad constituencies (ZPC) is seven, a total number of anchalik panchayat seats is four, a total number of gaon panchayats is 38 and the total number of gaon panchayat members is 360.
