Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia's Flutes are Made of Tripura Bamboos: Biplab Deb

Guwahati: While addressing an event on the sidelines of the launch of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Support and Outreach Programme by Prime Minister in the national capital, Tripura, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb spoke about the varieties of bamboo produced in the state. “I believe that bamboo-based projects, which are operational in Tripura, are very important. Tripura was the first state in the country to have launched the Bamboo Mission,” he asserted during his addressing speech on Friday.

He further stressed on the fact that bamboo used for making flutes which are played by music maestro Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is sourced from Tripura “The bamboo variety used to make flutes which are played by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia is sent from North and Dhalai districts of Tripura,” he said.

Stating that India loses Rs 1 lakh crore to bamboo imports from different countries every year, the Chief Minister said, “The BJP-IPFT government in Tripura has decided to save this amount by planting bamboos in 2,500 hectares of land across the state.”

Accusing the erstwhile Left government of failing to popularize its schemes and activities, among the people, due to which the schemes proved to be unsuccessful.

It needs to be mentioned here that the Chief Minister joined a large gathering there to hear Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address through video telecast during which the PM inaugurated 12 schemes related to Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) support and outreach programme in New Delhi.

In his address before the PM's video telecast, Biplab Deb encouraged people to develop new ideas and explore marketable themes and concepts.

Expressing the need for developing the state, the Chief Minister further added that Tripura has a huge scope for working on exploring talent and quality in people and hence entrepreneurship will help people to develop a sense of responsibility.
