Parenting: How About a Family Play?

A family play is essential to a child's overall development. It offers an ideal chance for the parents to spend time with their child or children and engage in some relaxing activities. The other dimension is that the role play in the version of Family play is symbiotic, i.e. beneficial for both the parents.

Scope for Interaction & bonding: It gives you some time for communication with your child. Playing helps in conversations, and interactions. The process of communication gets enhanced here, along with the bonding. Some talks outside academics always help parent-child bonding. Take the advantage of this situation to simultaneously teach some family values, social skills, etc., while playing.

Makes you relaxed: It helps in reducing stress levels in adults while giving them an opportunity to interact with kids. A hurried lifestyle, a packed academic schedule, the rush to learn fast, has all increased at the cost of free child-centred play. It is important that your child gets her time off from stressful learning, gadget time, hobby classes, etc., to indulge in some family play.

Enhances the creativity Quotient: The play provides an outlet for kids to express their inner creativity and skills. There is nothing more liberating for a child, than to be able to express herself without restrictions.

Improves problem-solving ability: Every time a child indulges in such an activity, he or she is exposed to some amount of problem-solving. Starting with the picking of the right pencil to color, to right puzzle pieces, an utility object, he or she is learning something every time during the play.

Time off from gadgets: Since everyone is going digital, kids are also born with that in-born knack of gadgets' use. They find every feature of a gadget interesting. Encourage them to play with the toys or participate in a role play rather than playing a video game; watching television or computer; or discovering the fantasy of a smartphone.

Promotes skills: Right from the fine motor and gross motor skills to problem-solving ability, kids tend to learn and develop a wide variety of skills, which gradually transform into decision-making, taking turns, following instructions, communicating with others, etc.
