PATHSALA: “The AGP, after the alliance with the BJP and BPF, will be benefited in the Lok Sabha election and at least the party will be able to send candidates to the Parliament,” said AGP MLA Phani Bhusan Choudhury while addressing a party workers’ meet held on Sunday at Patacharkuchi Harendra Bhavan premises.

Referring to the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, he said the party’s earlier stand would continue in future. He also appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise in a free and fair manner. The meeting was arranged in order to discuss about the strategy to ensure the victory of the AGP candidate in the Barpeta constituency.

Pabindra Deka, MLA of Patacharkuchi constituency, presided over the meeting where around 300 workers and leaders of the party, including Kumar Dipak Das, were present. Das in his speech said that AGP would do the needful for the people of the State and never deviate from its aims and commitment to the people of the State.

Replying to a question of media persons, minister Phani Bhushan Choudhury said that the present stand of former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta would not affect the election as he was not the party’s leader. Atul Bora was the party president. He also said that the people had understood well why the AGP had to go for an alliance. The meeting further passed some important resolutions for forming a joint coordination committee of BJP-AGP-BPF for the ensuing election and to work together to ensure victory of AGP candidate Kumar Dipak Das in the election.
