Parvati Prasad Baruah Award for Prof Idris Ali

MANGALDAI: The State government will confer the prestigious ‘Geeti Kovi Parvati Prasad Baruah Award’ for the year 2018 on Idris Ali- a writer, lyricist and poet of high repute, literary pensioner, a retired college teacher and former vice-president of Axam Xahitya Xabha.

The award has been declared by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, and it will be ceremonially conferred on Professor Ali at a function to be organized in Sankardev Kalakshetra auditorium on Tuesday evening. The award, introduced for the first time, carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh. Prof Ali, former vice-president of Axam Xahitya Xabha and Asom Kobi Samaj and the former president of Darrang Zila Sahitya Sabha, has a number of literary creations to his credit like Niribili and Surmita, poem collection Xukhar, Dukhar aru Prema and MHRD award winning novel Aag Sotalor Mon.
