Pasighat DC takes stock of law & order

From Our Correspondent

Itagar, March 2: To review law and order situation of Pasighat township in particular and East Siang district as a whole, DC Tamiyo Tatak on Wednesday convened a meeting with the admin officers. While stating that health and wellness are influenced by the places in which people live, learn and work, the DC asked the officers to ensure a healthy and safe environment in the district.

Pasighat being the oldest town of the state should set example in transforming the city into a cleanest and healthy place to live for all communities. Denizens of the centurion town should also take responsibilities to preserve the flora, fau, and tural beauty of the centurion town, and ensure public safety as a whole, opined Tatak.

The DC informed that the district administration has issued strict executive order to restrict stray and domesticated animals from roaming freely in market places and on the highway. Free movement of animals not only gives bad image but also leads to road accidents and disruption of traffic flows, the Tatak said further informing that the administration has imposed a blanket ban on fishing by using explosives, generators, chemicals, nets shooting rods etc.

Administration has restricted use of Air-rifle, rifle or various types of arms for hunting, to save precious wild creatures including illegal timber operation/felling of trees for illegal timber business within the jurisdictions of East Siang district. Rampant practice of illegal hunting and fishing along with exploitation of forest and tural resources not only hampers the environment but also leads to social disharmony, the DC further informed. While informing that complaints have been received from various civil society and NGOs including ABK (WW) and WASE that youths and students are indulging themselves in carom/gambling in public places/road sides within Pasighat municipal areas, the DC stated that such practices without time limit in public places has got potential to cause public nuisances.  Crimil activities arising out of challenge/betting ultimately creates law and order problems, he added further directing the officers to intensify monitoring and to take appropriate actions.
