JOYSAGAR, May 10: Diganta Konwar (57), a member of the People’s Consultative Group (PCG) which was formed by the ULFA to hold discussion with the Union government few years ago, staged a sit-in in front of the historic Rang Ghar at Joysagar of Sivasagar on Wednesday. Konwar during his protest criticized the role of the State Home Department as well as the Assam Police for their alleged failure in finding out about the whereabouts of another PCG member Rebati Phukan who had gone missing about a fortnight ago from his Guwahati residence.

Besides, Konwar also strongly opposed the proposed citizenship amendment bill, 2016 and criticized the weak role of the State government in safeguarding the ethnic people’s rights and in opposing the Union government’s move to grant citizenship to Hindus Bangladeshis through the proposed bill.
