PDA claims majority in KHADC

Shillong, March 10: The Congress-led People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) wants the ruling All Regiol Party Alliance (ARPA) to crumble by itself.

Notwithstanding the brave front put up by the present Chief Executive Member (CEM) and ARPA leader Adilberth Nongrum, the leader of the PDA, Pynshngain N Syiem told The Sentinel on Tuesday, “We have the numbers in the thirty member house. Let there be the trial of strength”.

Claiming that the 16 members are intact till today, Syiem went on to say that his alliance is not in a hurry to stake claim to form the new executive committee (EC) in the KHADC.  “Let them (ARPA) fall under their own grace before we take over the reins,” he said. Asked specifically on how he will ensure that the MDCs are intact when four of them are known defectors from other regiol parties, Syiem said, “We can safely inform you that the 16 MDcs are committed to the newly formed alliance”.
