HOWRAGHAT, March 7: The ‘pen-down’ agitation of the employees of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in Karbi Anglong against delay in release of their monthly salary, was suspended for the time being on Wednesday. The non-cooperation agitation started from March 5 and ended on Wednesday. The agitation was to continue till March 9 of this month. The ICDS department employees as well as Anganwadi workers and helpers have not received their salary for seven months.

In this regard, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC)  led by Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM), has been accused of failing to bring in fund from the State Government.

While announcing about the suspension of the pen down agitation, Premlota Giri, general secretary of Karbi Anglong Integrated Child Development Employees’ Association (KAICDEA), informed that the pen down agitation had been suspended for the time being due to continuation of release of second half fund for 2017-18 here on March 7. Any issue of the employees will be discussed thoroughly in the next executive meeting, the general secretary of KAICDEA said. Meanwhile, she urged all employees to continue and render their services with effect from March 8.
