People's safety and security a major concern: CM

Guwahati: The Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal has spoken on the state's safety and security saying that he has no intention to betray the people of the state.

Speaking at an event in Nagaon's Neherubali area said that he is working on the security and safety of the people of the state along with various ministers and MLAs as this is the responsibility of the government and added that he has not taken up the responsibility of the Chief Minister just to show his power, rather he will maintain his responsibility as well.

The Chief Minister asked the people to have faith in the government and also expressed his concern on the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord adding that none of the government has tried to implement the same and now that the government is trying to do so for the good of the people, everyone is trying to disrupt the present government.

The Chief Minister said that he emphasized the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and that he respects the organization being the ex-member and said that he will never let them down and that he will think for the safety and security of the people. "The people of the state have made me the Chief Minister with lots of trusts and I will never betray the trust of the people," the Chief Minister added.
