Petrol Pumps Excused To Carry Cash Above Rs 50,000

GUWAHATI: The North East India Petroleum Dealer Association of Greater Guwahati Unit had decided to make all fuel payments cashless from Thursday until the end of elections due to difficulties in directing cash to the bank from the depot which was later cancelled. Speaking to The Sentinel, Assistant General Secretary Arup Goswami said, “We met and spoke with the District Magistrate (DM) of Kamrup (M) regarding our problem and submitted a memorandum. It was decided by the DM that a petrol pump can carry cash above Rs 50 thousand and below 10 lakh to the bank. Further, before leaving the petrol pump, the bank will have to be notified about the amount being carried. If we follow these instructions, in case the money is seized by the authority, it will be released urgently.”
