Petrol pumps reopen in Manipur

IMPHAL, Sept 12: The petrol pumps of Manipur reopened on Saturday morning as the oil tankers, reaching Imphal, escorted by heavily armed guards.

Since morning people were seen make queue in front of the petrol pumps.

Meanwhile reports garnered by The Sentinel indicate that many roadside vendors who had purchased petrol from some employees of the petrol pumps are losing money in terms of thousands of rupees as they never expected that the highways would be open so suddenly. Under the assumption that the state shall remain cut off for several weeks the roadside vendors had bought petrol at Rs 120 a litre from the employees of the petrol pumps. The vendors had been selling petrol at Rs 200 per litre.
