PN Syiem calls on Rahul

SHILLONG, Dec 17: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Chief Executive Member (CEM), Pynshngainlang N Syiem today met AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi amidst his stand-off with Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma.

According to Syiem during his meeting with the AICC vice-president, he categorically stated that he is not fighting against the party or the state government but for the cause and rights of the indigenous people. The KHADC CEM told Gandhi that under present leadership in the state the policies are not in sync with the traditiol institutions.

Syiem also said that the state government is intruding into the mandate of the district councils.

“The institutions have own mandate under the constitution of India,” Syiem said. AICC general secretary in- charge Meghalaya V rayasamy was also present during the meeting.

Syiem also said that he will abide with the decision of the Congress high command.

 “I have driven my points through to the high command,” he said.
