JOYSAGAR, March 20: Thousands of fishes died in the Dorika and Diliho rivers of Sivasagar on Saturday and Sunday. Local people revealed that some miscreants had mixed some poisonous substance in the river water for hunting fish and therefore, a large number of fishes died. Some fish traders allegedly poison the river water by mixing medicine so that fish hunting become easy. Sometimes the dosage of medicines used by these traders becomes high and as a consequence, fishes die. The dead fishes cannot be consumed because of the poison, said local people.
