Police alerts citizens against fraudsters

Shillong, January 21: The East Khasi Hills police today warned citizens of the State against fraudsters who cheat people of their money. In a statement issued here today, Superintendent of Police (City), Vivek Syiem said that there has been several cases reported of persons being cheated by TV advertisements from unreliable channels offering prizes in the form of cash or car for identifying certain celebrity stars and sending the replies through SMS. According to Syiem, the fraudsters ask for a certain cash consideration to process the prize by asking for cash deposits to be made to a certain bank accounts. “It is hereby advised to the public not to fall prey to such gimmicks by fraudsters,” Syiem said.
