Police arrests prime suspect in sensational Kimin murder case

Itanagar: Itanagar police have cracked a murder case with the arrest of the alleged prime suspect in connection with a gruesome murder of a woman at Hawa Camp near Kimin in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh.

A half-burnt body of an adult woman was recovered under mysterious circumstances near Hawa Camp under Kimin Police Station on May 16 following which an investigation was launched.

Capital SP Tumme Amo informed that the sensational and completely clueless case has been solved with the arrest of the main suspect with one NP.25 bore pistol and 1 live round recovered from her house.

The accused has been identified as Taku Mompa of Ziro in Lower Subansiri district. Amo, who is also the in-charge SP Papum Pare, disclosed that linking various inputs received from Assam Police and on verification by sources, the police located the house of the suspect on Saturday.

During the joint interrogation on Sunday, the suspect revealed that she had hidden one .25 pistol at her house and accordingly it was seized in the evening along with two mobile sets, the SP also disclosed.

On identification of the deceased, the SP said, “The deceased’s family and other relatives identified the deceased from her ear rings, hair clip, sandals and a scar mark on her left toe as Alef Basumatary of Milanpur village under Assam’s Biswanath district.”

Amo further informed that as per investigation, the deceased was known to the accused for about one year and she had brought one Rani Narzary of the same village on May 5 to work as maid at her house.

Rani Narzary was staying with her two kids, one daughter aged 5-plus and a son around 4 years at the house of the accused. But after a couple of days, the accused kept the two kids away from their mother.

After argument, Rani Narzary left on May 12 for her village leaving her kids. The next day she asked the deceased to help her get back her two kids from the accused. On May 15, the deceased came to the house of the accused but the accused was sleeping.

The deceased spoke to Rani on mobile and she even reported to her husband over phone that the accused was sleeping but was telling her on mobile that she would hand over the kids at 4 pm.

However, when the husband called back the deceased after 10 am, he found her phone switched off. And on May 16, her 90 per cent burnt body with gunshot wound was found at Hawa Camp and accordingly, the case was registered.

In the meantime, the accused has admitted the two kids at Oju Mission School.

“I had spoke to Oju Mission authority and asked them to hand over the kids to their mother, Rani Narzary who also came with SDPO, Gohpur and accordingly, the kids have been united with their mother after about 9-10 days of separation,” the SP said adding that involvement of other persons cannot be ruled out as the accused is not disclosing till now.
