Police Constable commits Suicide in Morigaon

Jagi Road: A 57-year-old police constable reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his own service rifle on Tuesday morning at around 5 am in Jagi Road under Morigaon District today.

The constable who has been identified as Ghanakanta Bora, is a resident of Nagaon’s Nanoi area.

Speaking to The Sentinel, Superintendent of Police, Swapneel Deka said, “We are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the incident. The body has been sent for post-mortem and we comment only after receiving the final post-mortem report. The body has been sent to his residence today. He was married and had one son.”

SP also mentioned that there was no suicide note or anything as such which could reveal the exact condition of the incident.

Reportedly, a few of his fellow policemen heard the sound of the gunfire in the morning hours and informed the matter to the higher officials accordingly.
