'Police Ki Pathshala' aims to Revamp Cops' image in Nagaland

Dimapur: With an aim to revamp the conventional perception of police officials amongst the citizens, IPS officer Sonia Singh, Inspector General of Police (Range) started outreach sessions under the name "Police Ki Pathshala" at schools and colleges across Nagaland to educate students on this issue.

Sonia Singh while talking to The Better India said, “The primary objective of this initiative is to change the perception of the student community of the police. However, it’s not merely limited to that. We are looking to build trust by raising their awareness about procedures of law and criminal acts like domestic violence, rape, sexual harassment, cyberstalking, revenge porn and drug abuse, etc"

Faculty member of a Nagaland school said that for the students the experience at "Police Ki Pathshala" has been an enriching one and during the programme, they actually opened up and shared their grievances

Sonia Singh strongly feels that such awareness campaigns are the need of the hour so that existing stereotypes and perceptions about the police change.

The 'Police Ki Pathshala' initiative has three phases, the first phase covers Kohima from where it will move on to other parts of Nagaland, state reports.
