Police offer reward on abductors

SHILLONG, Nov 24: Police have announced a cash award for persons bringing information of the whereabouts of Meghalaya police personnel who was abducted by militants. In a statement issued here today, North Garo Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) has notified that a sum of Rs 20, 000 will be rewarded to any person providing any information relating to the whereabouts of Komraj Bhattarai of the Sixth Battalion. Bhattarai was abducted by suspected GNLA militants on November 6 from Sepikol in North Garo Hills while he was returning to duty. Bhattarai was on his way to Songsak in East Garo Hills in a public transport when suspected GNLA militants belonging to area commander Pilliport D Shira waylaid the vehicle at Tapa Darengchi area, approximately 16 kms from Mendipathar town. Police assured that the identity of the informant will be strictly kept confidential.
