Police officer assaulted in Jorhat

JORHAT, Jan 4: Two youths allegedly physically assaulted a police officer in a public place at the busy AT Road in front of Sanjeevanee Nursing Home in Jorhat on Wednesday.

According to sources, two youths Parswajyoti Sharma and Papu physically assaulted Sub-Inspector Bikul Saikia, a resident of Kushal gar, Jail Road in Jorhat, who is currently working in Golaghat district.

Police officer Bikul Saikia lodged a written complaint in Jorhat sadar police station against Parswajyoti Sharma and Papu. Police have registered a case under section 325,307,379 and 34 IPC.

Superintendent of Police of Jorhat,  Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan said that police had registered a case and investigation was on.
