Police Patrol Post Inaugurated at Besimari,Assam

MANGALDAI, July 29: The long felt need of the people of Besimari, known as the hub of green vegetables in Dalgaon area in Darrang district, has been fulfilled as the District Police on Sunday ceremonially inaugurated a Police Patrol Post there. Though the area is famous for its production of green vegetables, yet due to non-availability of the police personnel to control the traffic on NH 15, the stretch of NH 15 is often found to be congested and chaos. Further a section of certain anti-social elements with vested interests had created serious law and order situation in the area. Even in 2010 an unruly mob of such anti-social elements caused major damage to the vehicle of eminent journalist Dhirendra Nath Bezabarua by pelting stone in which a local scribe was also severely injured.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Northern Range Lachit Barua in presence of Darrang Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman and Superintendent of Police Sreejith Thiraviam this morning inaugurated the Police Patrol Post at Besimari in a crowded public function. “The presence of police is to ensure the safety and security of all section of the society and at the same time to take a tough stand on the anti-social elements only to establish the rule of the land. I am well acquainted with the hard working law abiding citizens of the area who have been dedicating their time to produce the green vegetables and the police is determined to ensure the safety and security of the common people,” DIG Lachit Barua said while making an appeal not rely on the rumours easily spread by the help social media.

In the function organized on the eve of the publication of the Draft NRC, he also appealed all section to maintain peace and tranquility at any cost. Darrang Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman taking part in the inaugural function as the invited guests also spoke in details on the draft publication of the NRC and appealed all section to maintain the traditional peace and communal harmony of the area. Superintendent of Police Sreejith Thiraviam, Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Nodal Officer of NRC Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati, Commanding Officer of 14 Garhwal Rifles Colonel Rahul Singh, Commandant of CoBRA Battalion of CRPF Chotte Lal and media person Bhargab Kumar Das also addressed the inaugural function. Earlier explaining the object of the function Additional Superintendent of Police Satyajit Nath gave brief account of the need for the Police Patrol Post.
