Poor infrastructure hits Silchar school

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT
SILCHAR, June 29: Government Boy’s Higher Secondary School of this town is facing a number of problems related to infrastructure development. MP Sushmita Deb along with Rajesh Deb, general secretary, district Congress committee, visited the school on Monday. It has been reported that a large number of students want to get admitted which could not be possible due to lack of accommodation. It is surprising that the first educatiol institution of the region which celebrated 150 years of its glorious existence should face dearth of class rooms and subject teachers. It has become a general phenomenon during the beginning of scholastic session that poor students aspiring for further education after matriculation failed to get admitted in the school due to limitation of seats. This year, owing to the increase in number of applicants, the school authorities and administration are finding it difficult to accommodate them with the available number of classrooms. Guardians have been compelled to seek the MP’s help. After thorough investigation of the matter, Sushmita Dev promised to help the school in the construction of extended two classrooms. However, she impressed upon the school authority to consider accommodation for 40 more students in post matriculation class. She was well aware of the constraints in respect of the subject teachers also. Her plea was despite all these constraints, the admission for at least 40 more students could be sympathetically considered. An engineer was asked by her to prepare detail plan and estimate for the additiol rooms.
