Poor quality of work irks AAPPTF

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

Itagar, Feb 19: Lauding the initiative of the public works department (PWD) for renovation of the roads in capital complex, the All Aruchal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) has, however, expressed concern over the quality of work.

In a representation to PWD highways chief engineer (Western Zone) on Thursday, AAPPTF said, “the quality of work is being compromised by the department, which is implementing the work”.

“The thickness of blacktopping is below 2 inches at many stretches which is not up to the standard. Due to this there is every possibility that the road would not be able to sustain the downpour of the upcoming monsoon,” AAPPTF said in the representation.

Requesting the department to immediately improve the quality of the work, it also appealed the department to carry out its work during the night (as it is doing now) taking into consideration the traffic congestion which occurs during daytime.

Condemning the incident of assault on the labourers working on the NH 415, the AAPPTF has appealed to the people to be careful while driving their vehicles during night to avoid such accidents. According to a statement from AAPPTF, the chief engineer assured them to look into the demand placed by it on top priority, a press release said here today.
