Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Houses in Nagaland are yet to complete

Guwahati: What turns out to be very disappointing for the people of Nagaland is that even after the inauguration of Chief Minister's (CM) dashboard to ensure proper monitoring of all government schemes with transparency and accountability, the records showed an utterly disappointing result on October 27 after two months of its inauguration by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on August 13.

It needs to be mentioned here that about two months since inaugurating Chief Minister’s (CM) dashboard the Nagaland state government has been updating its dashboard with the latest records of all the districts. Some of the schemes and programmes that were updated on the CM dashboard’s website included the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin) SBMG, RCH, and the MDM ARMS. Meanwhile, quite surprisingly it was founded that the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (Gramin) showed that ‘zero’ number of houses was completed in all the districts on Oct. 27.

It needs to be mentioned that PMAY (G) which is a social welfare flagship programme of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India in 2015 was meant to provide housing for the rural poor in India.

As per reports, among the 11 districts, Tuensang is the highest in terms of beneficiaries that have been registered with 4,424 as well as houses geo-tagged with 2,592.

Unlike the other districts that recorded a few hundred or more, Kohima district too appeared ‘zero’ in both the criteria.

It may be noted that despite Dimapur being the commercial hub of Nagaland, the district remains the area with the highest total number of rural households with a whopping 38,359 out of overall total 2,55,675. Mon district took the second place after Dimapur district with 29,620 and the area with the least number of rural households was recorded from the district of Longleng with 8,094.

In terms of Open Defecation Free (ODF), a total of 791 villages were verified as ODF and 1,451 ODF village declared. Out of the 11 districts, Zunheboto was the only district that had achieved ODF ‘verified village’ in all 191 ODF villages that were declared so.

Meanwhile, reports also revealed that Longleng achieved 49 ODF verified villages out of 50 ODF villages that were declared so far.

The dashboard also showed that the total number of household toilets that were built was 2,55,675 which is equivalent to the total rural households.

On the other hand, as against the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH), the total number of estimated pregnant women (9,070) and the estimated number of children (8,238) in the last report on Aug. 31, the number had increased considerably.

Meanwhile, the actual number of those registered showed minimal signs of improvement with 4, 942 pregnant women registered out of 13,352. The result indicated that as much as 37.01% of pregnant women were still yet to be registered.

Whereas, In the case of children, as much as 48.96% is yet to be registered with the total registered of 5,864 out of 11,976 estimated children. The dashboard showed the aggregate number of children as categorization such as newborns etc, were not made.

The table also showed that the total number of meals that were served was 286 on Oct. 27, while on Oct. 26 it was 1,696; and 1,653 on Oct. 25. The record indicated that the number of meals served varies from date to date.
