Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana workshop organized at ITA Machkhowa, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A workshop on Future Housing in Urban Assam was held at ITA Machkhowa, Guwahati with a total number of 300 plus participants. The Chief Guest was Minister Town & Country Planning Atul Borah. The participants included: Project Directors of all districts, Executive Officers & Chairpersons of all ULBs, Chairpersons of Development Authorities, staff of PMAYU all districts and beneficiaries of PMAYU.

Five beneficiaries were handed over letter of appreciation by Minister Atul Bora. 57,154 beneficiaries were given approval from Government of India min of housing and Urban Affairs, out of which 30 thousand beneficiary houses are under construction. More than 19 thousand houses are at roof level and 10 thousand houses shall be completed by June. Workshop was aimed at creating awareness for Credit linked subsidy scheme and affordable housing project. CLSS benefits should actually reach beneficiaries. Chairman of Urban Local Bodies participated in the deliberation. The workshop ended with hope that Class and ago projects will take off in Assam. Chief Executive Officer of State Urban Development Agency, Uttar Pradesh, Atul Chauhan described about housing policy of Uttar Pradesh and how it can be adopted by Government of Assam. As per a press release, Chairman of ULBs lamented about lackadaisical approach of banks in giving CLSS. Participants also demanded to increase contributions of State Government share in BLC to 1 lakh from present 50 thousand.
