Pratap Bordoloi becomes MMB chairman

MANGALDAI, April 4: Eminent sports organizer, former Secretary of Mangaldai Sports Association (MSA) and a pioneer in photo jourlism in Darrang district, Pratap Bordoloi, who is also the Ward Commissioner of Congress from Ward No. 10, took the oath of the secrecy as the chairman of the Mangaldai Municipality Board (MMB) on Saturday while Independent Ward Commissioner from Ward No. 8, Jinkul Ali, has been nomited as the vice-chairman.

In the last civic poll for the 10 wards of MMB, the Congress won in five wards, BJP in three wards and Independent candidates in two wards. With the support of Independent Ward Commissioner Jinkul Ali, the Congress after a long gap of more than 20 years has occupied the civic body in the district headquarters town.

Minister for Fisheries, Water Resources and local legislator Basanta Das was present in the oath-taking ceremony.
