Pratibha Gohain receives Kunjalata Gogoi Memorial Award

Dibrugarh, August 13: The Kunjalata Gogoi Memorial Award has been awarded to Pratibha Gohain of DHS Kanoi College for her successful achievement in securing the highest percentage among the students of the Department of Physics for the year 2014-15.  In a function held on Wednesday at Sankardev Auditorium of the college, the donor of the award, Minu Bura Gohain gave away the award to Pratibha Gohain. The Principal of the College, Dr. Sasi Kanta Saikia also felicitated Gohain with a gamucha and handed over the citation.

Like last two years, this year too, a girl from the Physic department maged to secure the highest percentage with 81.3 per cent and became the third girl recipient of the award, med after the me of Kunjalata Gohain, the mother of Minu Buragohain, former professor of the Physics Department. The other past recipients of the award were Sumi Dutta and Smriti Handique of the same department. The award comprises of a citation, xorai, gamocha, Assamese japi and  books.

The meeting organized on the occasion, was chaired by the Head of the Physics Department Aditya Dahal. Dr Jyoti Prakash Phukan in his speech spoke on the purpose and objectives of the meeting. Minu Buragohain in her speech urged upon the teachers to extend their support to the students so that they could achieve such award. Pratibha Gohain after receiving the award, extend her sincere gratitude to all her teachers for her achievement and urged upon the students to practice and work hard to achieve success.   

Dr. Ranjan Changmai welcomed all the guests, teachers and students of the college and offered vote of thanks.
