Prayer service at Kokrajhar to promote peace and harmony

KOKRAJHAR, Sept 13: The “United Christian Prayer for India” (UPCI) prays for the tion to spread the message of love, peace, amity, brotherhood and commul harmony to reach out all over the country.

A day-long colourful programme of prayers was conducted by the UCPI at Kokrajhar Town Baptist Church here on Monday. More than 250 Christian leaders and followers from Kokrajhar and Chirang of various communities including Boro, Adivasi, Rabha and Garo participated and prayed for the tiol leaders from top to bottom to rules the tion with Godly wisdom.

Lt. Col. Arun Kumar, United Christian Prayer for India, New Delhi, attended the prayer service as a chief guest in the prayer meeting.

Talking to reporters, Enosh rzary, organizer of the programme, who is also Director of Northeast Vision, said that 12 denomitions from Baptist, NELC, Roman Catholic, Presbyterian Church of India, CRC, BELC, IEC, PEC, CNI, ABC and RBC took part in the tiol prayers meeting.

He said that this programme has been organized to pray for the tions and the followers coming from different denomitions are praying for bring peace and harmony.

“We just want to give this message, we want peace especially in lower part, and we see the people are fighting each other. We the christian people want to work as a mediator to bring the peace among all community that we live together in all Assam and India,” he said adding that they prayed that the tiol leaders stay away from discrimiting any one irrespective of caste, creed and religion sects etc.

rzary also said that the country was going through very difficult time as reports of corruption, crimility in politics, inter-caste and inter- religious violence, atrocities against women, honor killings are increasing alarmingly.
