A REPORTER
SHILLONG, Sept 3: In a first of its kind initiative in the State, Governor V Shanmugathan today invited College and Higher Secondary School Principals to his official residence at the Raj Bhavan for pre Teacher’s Day celebrations with the theme ‘LET US RESPECT OUR TEACHERS’. “A teacher is an embodiment of so many values and students see their teacher as his or her perfect role model and they develop a great sense of respect for their teachers that is why a teach should always set a good example,” V Shanmugathan said while addressing the occasion at the Raj Bhavan. In light of Dr. S. Radhakrishn birthday which has been celebrated in India as Teachers’ Day on September 5, every year the Governor said that even in dire circumstances, our teachers have rendered invaluable service towards individual, social and tiol growth. Let us therefore accord due respect to our teachers, as has been India’s own tradition. Today more than ever, a great responsibility rests with Teachers in regard to building the character and acumen of the children and youth of India. He added, “Teachers are epitomes of selfless service and in my belief, they are the engines of tiol growth.”
