Preparations afoot for special programme of APCU

GAURISAGAR, Oct 15: Assam Press Correspondence Union (APCU) is one of the premier organizations for grassroots media persons of Assam. It was established in 1993 and has completed 25 years. On this occasion, APCU is organizing a series of State-wide programme in active collaboration with its district committees in different parts of the State. The APCU Sivasagar district committee is organizing a  special conference  scheduled to be held at Swahid Sangbadik Kamala Saikia Suwarani Kshetra katani  in  Konwerpur on October 29 with a day-long programme.

 The programme will start with hoisting of flag by Podum Kumar Saikia, president of APCU, Sivasagar district committee. The reception committee flag will be hoisted by its president Khagen Baruah. Later, the swahid tarpan and sapling plantation will be done.  An open session will be held under the chairmanship of Podum Kr Saikia. The meeting will be iugurated by Manuj Singh, president of APCU. State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora will grace the conference as  chief guest while noted jourlist Anta rayan Borthakur  will attend as an invited speaker. Besides, former Chief Minister Prafulla Kr Mahanta, State Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta and others will attend the open session as distinguished guests.

 In the function, a souvenir edited by Rajib Dutta will be unveiled by Dr. Saumarjyoti Mahanta, Principal of Sibsagar Commerce College, while Anup Phukan, Professor and Head of the Department of English, Tingkhong College will release a story book composed by educationist and writer Khagen Baruah.  At night, the Dipu Kamal Borah memorial cultural night will be held. Noted cultural organizer Suruj Dihingia will iugurate it. In the cultural night programme, former Thowra MLA Sushanta Borgohain and Debasis Sarmag, Additiol Superintendent of Police, Sivasagar will be the chief guest and distinguished guest respectively.
