Preparations afoot to celebrate 16th Bodoland Day

Kokrajhar, Feb 7: Hectic preparation is going on to celebrate the 16th Bodoland Day on February 10 at Bodofa Nwgwr near BTC Secretariat. The field preparations, repairing of Jwhwlao Dwimalu Road, gate and decorations are going on in full swing. The pandal will have sitting capacity of 15,000 while the venue will be made spacious for 2 lakh people. There will be cultural extravaganza in the evening.

A meeting was already held at BTC Secretariat recently to discuss about the programme with EM Doneswar Goyary in the chair. The council has decided to felicitate tiol and intertiol level boxers, Fwilao Basumatary, Angkushita Boro, Jamu Boro and Bhaigyabati Kachary, who have brought laurels to the State and the country with citation and Rs. 5 lakh each. Besides, Promod Chandra Brahma literary award to prominent writer and Jwhwlao Nileswar Brahma award with Rs 2 lakh each to the renowned artistes would be handed over while ailing artistes and sports stars would be felicitated and an amount of Rs. 30,000 each would be given as one-time fincial ex-gratia.
