Preparations on for golden jubilee celebration of Rongpur school

GAURISAGAR, May 25: Preparations are afoot for the closing function of the year-long golden jubilee celebration of Rongpur Girls’ High School, scheduled to be held on May 27 and May 28.

The programme will started with hoisting of flag by Dr. Jogesh Borah, president, reception committee, followed by smriti tarpan to be performed by Alhaz Hunnur Ali, founder member of the school. The door of the book fair will be iugurated by Alhaz Rafiqul Huda, retired, Headmaster, Sivasagar High Madrassa. Thereafter, Arup Hazaka, Headmaster, Rongpur Girls’ ME School will iugurate the door of the exhibition.

The Satirtha Sanmilan will be held where alumni and teachers will gather and exchange their past memories. In the evening after lighting earthen lamps in the school campus, Tonkeswar Borah Memorial cultural function will be held.

On the concluding day, in the morning a colourful cultural procession will be taken out. Noted physician, actor Dr Sukalyan Das will flag it off. Later an open session will be held and Probin Kumar Sarmah, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar division, will iugurate it. Soram Borauh, former Principal, Sibsagar Girls’ College will grace the meeting as chief guest while Khagendra th Bhuyan, noted columnist and former subject teacher, Sivasagar Govt HS & MP School and Phani Chetia, noted educationist and maging director, Bidya Bhawan, Dimual will attend the open session as a distinguished guests. In the meeting the souvenir Swarv published on this occasion will be unveiled by Dr Prakash Katoky, former Principal, Sibsagar College.

At night the Reekshi Borah Memorial cultural programme will be held. Noted dramatist and chairperson, tya Pith, Sivasagar, Prasanta Sarmah will iugurate the programme. The reception committee has been constituted headed by Dr Jugesh Borah as president, Habib Ullah as working president and Pratap Dutta, Headmaster of the school, as secretary.
