Preparations on for R–Day celebration

DIBRUGARH, January 21: The district administration is stepping up its extensive preparation to celebrate the 66th Republic Day here with enthusiasm and gaiety.

The day’s programme will start at 6 am with presentation of patriotic songs through Fixed Loud Speakers (FLS) system of the District Information and Public Relation Department which will be followed by Prabhat Ferry, hoisting of tiol flag at government offices, schools and houses of citizens and offering of flowers at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi located at Tha Chariali and Circuit House.

Rich tribute will be paid by garlanding the statue of Swahid Kushal Konwar at Chowkidinghi play ground. The chief guest will unfurl the tricolour at the official celebration held at Chowkidinghi playground and address the gatherings. The chief guest will also take the salute of march past of police, para–military forces, NCC, Scout and Guides and school children. Eminent persolities from various fields will be felicitated on the occasion.

The other programmes of the day will be distribution of fruits amongthe patients of Assam Medical College and inmates of the Central Jail and a friendly football match between D.C XI and Dibrugarh District Sports Association XI at Chowkidinghi play ground.

To mark the 66th Republic Day celebration, a quiz competition christened as ‘Bharat Ko Jano’ will be held among the students up to Class XII at the District Library Auditorium on January 24.
