Preparations underway for 157th Rabindra Jayanti celebration

TANGLA, May 7: Preparations are underway to celebrate the 157th Rabindra Jayanti marking the birth anniversary of the great scholar and novelist, Rabindrath Tagore, with a day-long programme on May 9 here in the town.

To mark this occasion, two programmes have been organized, one at Vivekanda High School in Bor Tangla and another at Subashpolly locality of Tangla. Various literary and cultural competitions like drawing competition, Rabindra Sangeet, Rabindra Nritya among others will be held in the Subashpolly locality.

 Meanwhile, Rajen Gohain, Union Minister of State for Railways, will grace the programme as chief guest and Santius Kujur, Rajya Sabha MP, will grace the programme as guest of honour. Rabindra Sangeet and Nritya competition will also be held.  The programme has been co-ordited by noted social worker Dipen Das (Toppa). In the cultural night programme, noted stand-up comedian Bipul Rabha and his group will entertain the audience. Local singers will also enthrall the audience.
