Priest and lover commits suicide at Bordubi in Tinsukia

Guwahati/Tinsukia: In a shocking incident, people of Bordubi today woke up to a horrific scenario as passersby and locals spotted two bodies hanging near the Tilinga Mandir under Tinsukia District on Monday.

The bodies were found hanging to the ceiling in the recreational establishment near the famous temple.

According to eyewitnesses, it has been understood that the man was a priest and the girl was his assistant. They resided in an around the area where their bodies were discovered.

Locals also claim that it is a matter of ‘love affair’ and both of them were in a relationship.

Speaking to The Sentinel, OC, Bordubi, Anupam Gowala said, “We have recovered two bodies near the Tilinga Mandir. Both of them belong from the tea tribe community. During our investigation, we have recovered a suicide note from the residence of the girl. We have learned that the man who was a sage by profession have come into relation with the girl and made her his follower cum assistant. It is also believed that both of them had committed suicide knowing the fact that their relationship won’t be accepted in the village because of age differences.”

OC also mentioned that the person was aged 50 or even more. While the girl was only 17-yeas-old.

Police have now barricaded the spot and both bodies have been taken for post-mortem.
