Primary school teachers protest against non-payment of salary

DEMOW, August 4: Around 1,476 primary school teachers of Sivasagar closed the primary schools and offices of the Education Department under Demow Primary Elementary Office on Tuesday in protest against the non-payment of salary to 1,476 primary school teachers of Sivasagar.

The protesters threatened to join the banned outfit ULFA if need arose. After Sarat Borkotoky took charge as the Education Minister, he said that the issue of non-payment of salary to 1,476 primary school teachers would be addressed but till date no steps have been taken in this direction.  Many teachers who have not received salary for 42 months took part in the protest.
