Prime Suspect in Nagaland Cop Murder Case arrested from Guwahati Railway Station

Kohima: In a major development to the Nagaland Cop murder case, police have managed to nab the prime accused in murder of Neiphretuo Metseio.

The person was apprehended by the Government Railway Police and the Railway Police Force at the Guwahati Railway Station.

Reportedly, police have now managed to nab both the accused in the murder of the 5th NAP Battalion inspector as a co-accused Ringthingchon of Lunghar village in Ukhrul district in Manipur was earlier arrested and kept in Ukhrul custody.

Police said that the prime accused identified as Yurreingam Ronra Shimray alias Thangmeingam (24), is a “veteran criminal” and was involved in several murder cases in Dimapur.

Metsio, who was travelling in his own Mahindra Scorpio (NL 07 C 2743) from his home at Kohima to his battalion at Pfutsero on September 7 went missing and his body was recovered yesterday somewhere between Lasumi and Zapami village.

During the interrogation, the accused confessed that they had murdered Metsio, dumped his body and fled with the car to Manipur.

While the lady was in Manipur, Shimrey returned to Dimapur and boarded on the Dibrugarh- Rangia express train today at 12:10 pm in the afternoon and reached Guwahati around6:30 pm..

According to police, “Based on a tip-off by the police to the RPF, all security personnel near the Guwahati train station were alerted and additional forces were called in too to keep a sharp eye on the accused and apprehend him.”

The police officer further added that “The accused resisted arrest when the security force went to apprehend him and ran away to a nearby building, but it was cordoned off quickly by the presence of many security personnel and subsequently.”

Meanwhile, the police are preparing the case and both the accused are under interrogation.
