Probe Ordered into Mumbai Hospital Blaze

Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Tuesday ordered a probe into the devastating fire in a Mumbai government hospital which claimed eight lives, an official said here. Another 176 injured were being treated at various hospitals. As per preliminary investigations, some material stored for renovation purposes caught fire generating massive smoke and creating panic. Among the eight fatalities in the conflagration, a majority of the victims died due to suffocation, and at least one had panicked and jumped from the third floor to his death. (IANS)
