Problem is Himanta’s middle me: Gogoi

GUWAHATI, Feb 21: Problem is State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s middle me, said former State Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today. Gogoi made such a comment while reacting to the alleged leakage of question papers of the ongoing HSLC examitions.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, Gogoi said: “Problems are bound to afflict wherever Himanta goes. He was a problem for me, so is for the BJP. He talks more, but works less. Everybody in the State has seen the HSLC examitions going on in candle-lit rooms. Even his satellite channel News Live has telecast it. Has the channel lied? Education and Health departments of the State are the worst in the country. This is because Himanta is holding both the portfolios.”

Gogoi said: “We did conduct an inquiry for SEBA reforms with the Srith Baruah Commission.”

When the press asked as to why his government had not implemented the Srith Baruah Commission’s recommendations, Gogoi said: “The then Education Minister concerned should have submitted the recommendations to me.”

The press sought a statement from Gogoi on the burning of HSLC answer scripts in Jorhat last year, Gogoi said: “Only a few answer sheets were charred. However, now the situation is beyond control.”

When asked for his reaction to the comment from the former Chief Minister, Education Minister Sarma said: “In the past 14/15 years, Gogoi never wanted to know as to how HSLC or HS examitions were held.”
