Prominent Bodo writer passes away

Tamulpur, November 6: Prominent writer and president of Tamulpur Sakha Boro Sahitya Sabha, Ghakanta Boro (54)  passed away on Saturday night.

Last night he suddenly became uncomfortable and developed breathing problem. He died at about 2.30 am at his residence in the village Jokmari under Tamulpur subdivision in the district of Baksa. Getting the news, his admirers gathered at his residence to pay their last respects.

Ghakanta Boro had been working as assistant teacher in J N BME School. He wrote three books in Bodo literature mely Santhai Methai (poetry), Raithai Mala and Raithai Bidang. Tamulpur district Boro Sahitya Sabha, Tamulpur Sakha Sahitya Sabha, Tamulpur Anchalik ABSU along with various organizations condoled his demise. He leaves behind a son and a daughter.
