Prompt Action By Assam Police Saves Minor Girl From Attempting Suicide

GUWAHATI, July 25: A minor girl contemplating suicide was saved due to prompt action by the Assam Police. Facebook headquarters informed Assam Police in the evening of July 23 on an apprehension that a minor girl was contemplating suicide and that too within a very short time. The Assam Police SMART Social Media Centre and the local Police located the child within 30 minutes and ensured her safety. As it turned out, the child had updated her Facebook status saying, “I am gonna to commit suicide today.” The child was counselled, as was the family and advised to remove her post, which she did. The child is safe and in the care of her family, stated police.
