Proposal for hockey stadium

SHILLONG, July 6: The Ri Bhoi District Hockey Association (RBDHA) on Friday placed a proposal to the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh for construction a hockey stadium at Nongpoh.

Speaking to reporters, after the meeting, RBDHA president DS Malai said, “We have also made a similar proposal in the past for construction a hockey stadium in Nongpoh however nothing has materialized. But now as the new government formed we are ortimistic this time. Our request will be fulfilled.”

The president informed that the Minister has assured them that their proposal will be examined by the government and necessary action will be taken.

“We want the hockey stadium to be constructed so that the sport of hockey can be promoted in the state of Meghalaya,” he said.

Needless to say that there is no hockey stadium in Meghalaya. Hence the proposed stadium at Nongpoh would create huge boost to the State.
