Protest against doctors' 'irresponsibility' in Margherita

Margherita, April 21: Activists of Margherita Regiol Student Union on Friday protested  against the Superintendent and doctors of Margherita Civil Hospital for negligence towards two patients who were admitted on Wednesday night. More than 100 activists of Margherita Regiol Student Union shouted various slogans against Dr K C Das Superintendent of Margherita Civil Hospital and other doctors.

Bulbul Saikia, General Secretary  and Prashanta Gogoi, Assistant General Secretary of Margherita Regiol Student Union said that on Wednesday, Margherita Regiol Student Union organising secretary, Manoranjan Gogoi Ulup and Margherita Regiol Student Union Sports Secretary, Bibek Kahar both met with a severe road accident when they were riding their motorcycle near Hill View Segunbari NH 38 road. Both were immediately taken to Margherita Civil Hospital but unfortutely Dr S K Dutta of Margherita Civil Hospital who was present at the Hospital didn’t attend the patients.  After two hours both were rushed to Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh where Manoranjan Gogoi Ulup was declared dead by doctors. Bibek Kahar’s condition is stable at present. Bulbul Saikia said that Dr K C Das, Superintendent of Margherita Civil Hospital is one of the corrupt doctor as under him all corruption and crimes occur at Margherita Civil Hospital where patients do not get basic facilities.

“Dr K C Das and Dr S K Dutta should be immediately suspended and Health Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma should conduct an enquiry so that Margherita Civil Hospital can be free from corruption and other malpractices,” said Bulbul Saikia.
