Protest march by AJYCP against Bill

DHEKIAJULI, May 26: The Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Saturday took out a huge protest march in Dhekiajuli town in protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

More than 200 supporters of AJYCP along with the AASU Dhekiajuli unit members took part in the protest march. The protest march was led by Ramesh Borah, former headmaster of Dhekiajuli Boys' High School, from Rabindra Bhavan of Dhekiajuli Municipality Board and passed through the NH-15 of Dhekiajuli town.

The protesters later gathered at the Dhekiajuli Inspection Bungalow and held a protest meeting. In the protest meeting, Sujit Kataki, the vice-president of Sonitpur District AJYCP, and Dharani Keot, president of AJYCP Dhekiajuli unit, spoke elaborately against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. At the end of the protest meeting, the Dhekiajuli unit of AJYCP sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal through the Circle Officer of Dhekiajuli Revenue Circle, Sabyasachi Kashyap.
