Protest rally against Chowna Mein’s proposal of providing PRC to non-APST

ITANAGAR: Condemning the recent statement by the Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) Chowna Mein on providing PRC to the Non APST settled in Lekang circle of Namsai district, Arunachal Pradesh, the indigenous people of the state voluntarily staged a protest rally at various locations at Itanagar on Sunday.

The protesters in hundred turned out on the day by responding the call for the protest by Facebook post. The post stated that, “Time has come to display solidarity against Chief Minister and DCM of Arunachal Pradesh decision to grant PRC to the Non APST of lekang, I would like to appeal and make a request to all like-minded people of Arunachal Pradesh to join us in the protest and don’t be a keyboard warrior.”The protesters saw carrying pamphlets and shouting slogans “PRC is not your property, it belongs to Arunachalee only” in the roads of Capital complex. Speaking to this daily a protester who did not want to disclose his name said that, if non-tribal can be untied to snatch our ancestors land then we should put more effort to protect our land. That’s what we will do and actually doing; we will give our lives to protect our land.

He also said that as we are seeing that Non-tribal of lekang are doing illegal protest while going against the law, but still even not a single person got apprehend for doing a violent protest. The protester demanded to take back the statement by CM and DCM and to apologies to the people of state. It also termed the state government as a fickle government by not seeking advice and concern of the rest indigenous people of the state. Another protester while said that, we want schools, colleges, university and hospitals as a New Year gift instead of illegal immigrants. Thus, the state government should immediately cancel the PRC granting process.
